OPEN GARDENS

Napier’s Open Gardens
Surrounded by protea farms and rare renosterveld conservation areas, the village of Napier springs to life at this time of year.
We have two plant nurseries and a number of exceptionally gifted gardeners who call this place home. So to welcome in the new season we are proud to announce an Open Gardens Competition, which also boasts a children’s category!
Take a meander around the village to discover some of the most beautiful country gardens in the Overberg.
Home gardeners will be delighted to share their expertise and in some cases plants will be available for sale.
Collect a Map at the Cricket Field information desk for the location of each garden.
LEARN TO GROW
Children’s Garden competition
Napier has two schools, Protea Primary and the Cape Agulhas School of Skills.
In addition there are several after-care facilities and children’s and youth charities and organisations that operate in the village.
This part of the competition is to introduce and encourage children of any age to learn about and experience the joy of growing their own plants and vegetables.
Our wish is that they learn this life skill to help sustain themselves and their families in later life.
We hope you will take the time to visit their gardens too and look at all their hard work. Please refer to the Events map on the day for their location.
Donations of any, seeds, garden tools or equipment, potting soil etc would be most welcome.
